missing emails in Mail search results

I am getting more and more frustrated with search in Mail and not finding any fixes. For instance, when I search for a particular sender, the earliest email that shows up is from November 2022 even though I have received over 100 emails from this sender since that time. Doesn't matter whether I search All Mailboxes or a particular inbox. I have 3 different email address and in this case, the sender always uses my .me address. When I click on my iCloud inbox, the most recent email is from Nov 8. How do I fix this problem?
