Apple Watch Ultra Offline Maps

I understand the whole marketing campaign for the watch was to target adventurers. I’m an avid backpacker, and pre-ordered the watch to replace my Garmin, only to find out that Apple Maps can’t be used offline. This seems like a huge oversight on Apple’s part. I understand that I can use theirs party apps to make this happen but my intention was to not have to use anything else.

I emailed Tim Cook after purchasing the watch when it came out, and got no reply. Is there any official communication from Apple on the matter?

As this is a user to user only forum, we have no inside knowledge of anything is working on. All anyone here can guide you to is to check out 3rd party apps, which may meet your needs. You might want to check out one called workoutdoors, which I believe comes with a cost of $5.99. Honestly, there's no reason to forgo third party apps if they provide features you need, want and will use.

Since there isn't any communication from Apple on this and there hasn't been any, no one could point you to such communication.

But, it's been fun chatting with you. I'll leave you to wait for the answer you're looking for. I wouldn't hold my breath though. As again, we aren't Apple and we don't know what they're working on for future releases for Apple Watch Ultra users.
