A problem was detected with the TrueDepth camera. Face ID has been disabled.

I have an iPhone 12 and iPhone XR that both display this message on iOS 16.3. How to remove it. Both showed this message after cleaning the screen with alcohol briefly. It has probably somehow gotten into the phone, and I don't think Apple will fix it because the LCI has probably turned red. They are both long out of warranty

Hey 0wsn,

The troubleshooting steps in the following support article may resolve the Face ID error: If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

However, given the description of what happened prior to the issue, you may need to either turn Face ID off completely or reach out to Apple Support directly for repair options: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care!
