Unknown folder keeps showing up on my external drive

I only use my external drive on my MacBook. And I noticed there is an unknown folder named .Spotlight-V100 on my external drive. I deleted it, but it keeps showing up. What's going on?

Any spotlight search/OneDrive/external drive solution? Hello, I have a LaCie external drive on an M1 mac mini with Ventura 13.0.1. I have my OneDrive cache folder to be a partition on the external drive. I have a folder set to "Always Keep on This Device." I have verified that they are there by turning off wi-fi and opening files. So, they do seem to be local to the hard drive. Finder/OneDrive shows the conflicting icons of "always on this drive" and "Not downloaded," though. However, when I search in that folder, it only finds files with the keyword in the filename or ones that have been opened. I have re-indexed both from the spotlight privacy settings and from Terminal. No go. I have seen lots of discussion but nothing that helps. I assume that spotlight is re-indexed because it shows some files. Is that right? I think this is a conflict with Finder and OneDrive, and they'll eventually (?) figure it out. But, just in case, has anyone seen any new info? [OneDrive just updated as I was ready to post! I waited to see if this would be helped. I'm at 22.227.1030.0001 now. It doesn't seem to be different.] Chuck

Newly created "Here to help_files" folder on MacBook desktop? Recently a new folder showed up on my desktop entitled "Here to help_files". It contains ~100 files ranging from JavaScript, multiple images types, text docs, HTML docs, Plain text docs. They don't seem to be related to any one application. Any ideas on what this is? I dot want to trash it until I can learn more. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Strange x86 files on my Mac??? I recently started using Spotlight more often, and for some reason now I see x86 files ALL OVER THE PLACE. They all start the same name and are unopenable, some as ISOs, most being .im4m files... Can someone tell me if it means I am hacked, and how to get rid of them??? Thanks!

That’s the Spotlight index. It will be there even if you have disabled indexing because that is how it will know to not index the drive.

Normally that item is hidden, but you must have toggled the Finder to show hidden files.
