iPad apps won’t open when I tap.

On the Home Screen whenever I tap on an app it won’t open ANY app or widget but show the haptictouch type settings (uninstall, etc), so I have to do this weird finger movement to get it to open. The screen works fine, I can scroll, type, and pressure sensitivity all work perfect except for that issue. I’ve turned off and on the iPad but the issue immediately starts again after a few seconds. Any help?

If an action menu appears when opening an App, you have perhaps lingered too long; instead of a “tap”, you have triggered the long-touch gesture.

Changing the haptic touch recognition period, in iPad settings, may help:

Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Haptic Touch - change from Fast to Slow

Otherwise, in case of software glitch, try a forced-restart of your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
