I'm having an issue getting into many sites. A privacy error comes up instead error NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID and won't let me in many sites. I think I need to update my OS I have Yosemite OS 2015 macbook air. And I think the only Os I can maybe get is el capitan OS? Will this fix my issue? I can't even watch netflix bc it says its out of date my pc. Can I upgrade to the el capitan?

Catalina and higher won't run 32-bit software; if you upgrade to one of them, use Go64 as well.
If you've encountered the Let's Encrypt certificate expiration issue, upgrading to El Capitan won't itself fix it.

Open the installer from the Applications folder or the Dock. If you downloaded El Capitan or Sierra, you'll need to open the download and then the package inside first.

will anything? i downloaded new os and it said it downloaded but nothing happened now i try again and it says it can't be upgraded on this mac. r macbook air 2015 with yosemite os not able to be upgraded and so their about obsolete now?
