I just bought a Mac Air M2. I look for help online but not very useful. Either ads for 3d party products or refer to techniques that worked in earlier OS but don't work in Ventura. How do I undelete a file with Ventura. l deleted a file and folder. They are still in the trash. I wish to keep the folder but delete the file. This should be a simple question but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

If the folder is still in the Trash bin open the bin by double clicking on it and move the folder out of it to the Desktop. Open the folder and move the file back into the Trash bin and empty.
OR
You can just create a new folder and give it the same name as the one in the Trash. The key combination of Shift+Command+N will create a new folder.

Move the folder/file combination back to its former parent directory.
Select the item you just moved.
Hit command-delete to delete it.
Immediately hit command-z or use the Edit menu to undo.
I also tested it if I performed intermediate tasks (opened Stickies, typed a few characters), but the undo command did not work until I moved "focus" back to Finder, whereupon it worked as before.

Open the Trash. Control-Click on the folder and select "Put Back" from the menu that opens. Then you can just empty the Trash.
