access mouse wheel settings
I have a M1 mini (Montarey) and a M1 Air (Ventura).
On my Mac Mini, I use a wired mouse with a scroll wheel and side buttons, because the magic mouse is an ergonomic disaster.
I would like to be able to set up the scroll wheel and 4th/5th button settings. The mouse control panel does not appear to have any settings.
I dug through my archive and dreged out the abysmal USB Mighty Mouse with the little ball thing. When I plug this in, the mouse control panel magically transforms into this:
Wow! Great! Now any settings I apply will apply to ALL the mouses that are connected. Extra buttons, right click, wheel click.
On my Mini I have to keep the Mighty Mouse connected all the time to keep these settings working. If I unplug it the settings go back and the wheels and side buttons stop working. I have to keep the Mucky Mouse connected and let it hang down the back of the desk so it doesn't move.
When I want to use a bluetooth erganomic multi-button mouse on my MBA I have to get a usb-c to usb hub, plug in the might mouse, put it somewhere I won't bump it, ... it's a right old pain.
Many of the controls in macos have secret options that appear when you hold option and open the setting, but i haven't been able to figure out which one opens the better mouse control that the Dumpsterfire Mouse has when it's plugged in.
Is it possible to configure extra mouse buttons in MONTAREY or VENTURA for mouses? (e.g lefet click, wheel click, right click, side button 1, side button 2, side button 3, side wheel scroll, top wheel scroll, dpi button, etc). The old mouse control panel that appears whith the mighty mouse connected is a bare essentials but better than nothing fix, but it makes me wonder if Apple have hidden other actually useful control panels in there for configuring the mouse.
Anyone know anything?
