iPhone 12 hard reset fails everytime
I have a brand new iPhone 12 updated to iOS 16.3(20D47) that fails to hard reset. It generates a reset counter log file that shows a boot failure with faults to btn rst_btn and btn btn_seq_reset.
The reason for trying the hard reset is my cellular connections seemingly fail with apps reporting not connected to the internet. I am on T-Mobile running an eSim and a physical sim with dual lines. The status bar shows both connected. Attempting to get the internal and external IP address will fail.
The phone will get so hot on the left side (vol up down side) without being plugged in to charge or running any apps I have to power it off (which fails as well) and set it down. It is to hot to hold.
I cannot run a Safety Check with it failing with a generic “Unable to perform Safety Check”. that alone is alarming. Combined with a lot of failure logs related to splunk flushmessages I am concerned I have bought or been delivered a bad device.
I am just now, 48 hours later, able to get the iPad working. Specifically, I could really use some help and advice to diagnose this iPhone issue.
As an FYI I had the iPhone (along with an iPad) delivered via Apple Store courier that left the store, went to a location, sat idle for nearly an hour, and then returned to near the store where it shifted to a new courier that finally delivered my devices. The delivery courier had no idea what to do when arrived, didnt check id, or ask for a signature. after fiddling with his phone for nearly 10 minutes said i was good to go and left.
