Disabling wrist detection will have two bad consequences:

1. Your watch won't automatically lock anymore which will jeopardize the security of your watch.
2. You'll lose a lot of features after shutting it off. One of which is your Apple Pay Wallet.

Can you wear it on your other wrist instead? It would be awkward and hard to get used to without a doubt!

You chose to get a tattoo on your wrist where the watch sites. There are substances in the ink that prevent the optical sensors from working properly. That’s called “physics”, not “a bug”.
