Lossless (lossless music from Apple Music) through Apple TV requires an Apple TV 4K model (2017 or later). Apple TV’s lossless is software-limited to 24-bit/48 kHz. Your TV’s chip for optical output likely has the same limitation.

Hi there, your setup is the same as I am planning to fix. Does it work? It will be the Apple TV 4k 2022 with hdmi into my Sony XF9005 tv and optical from the tv to my Chord dac (and than analogue to my pre-power amp). Sound works and no lipsync problem? Hope to hear from you!
