Mine is also stuck. I have toggled airplane mode off and on, turned off/ on cellular data, restarted my phone multiple times, hard restarted it multiple times, removed SIM card (sim is about 15 months old) cleaned port and inspected SIM card. I even just updated my phone to iOS 16.3.1 on February 13, 2023 and still it is stuck in SOS mode.
I had to connect to Wi-Fi because the phone is useless for communication when it is in SOS

This is not SOS mode like the emergency feature. It’s just to say that there’s no cellular signal but you can still call 911.
Do you have a SIM card or eSIM inside your phone?
Mine is working again this morning. Apparently there was outage with T-Mobile last night that caused this issue. (I do have T-Mobile)
All my kid's phones are having the same issue (I'm a Droid- sorry). All have SIM cards. Tried turning airplane mode on/off, forced restart. Any other ideas?
All 3 phones happened just prior to my posting, within 20 minutes of each other.
That's what I was saying. When you got no signal the first thing you need to check is the carrier, not the phone.
How long ago did it happen? It’s happening to my phone and my moms phone as well.
Did anybody here at least checked with their carrier that their antennas are working properly and/or their SIM card? This clearly doesn't look like an Apple issue.
