i have difficulty using the bluetooth headset plantronics voyager pro with my macbook pro. i was able to pair and connect it but can't use it at all. Everytime i go to the system preferences and the audio, i always get the "this device has no output controls" warning even if i press the call button of the headset. I have the chosen the proplantronics for the output and input device but just couldn't make it work for skype. I really don't know what is wrong.
I went to an apple center and they told me that i have to upgrade my bluetooth in the macbook pro but my laptop is running the latest.
The "this device has no output controls" warning is quite normal: it is because the device doesn't have any volume or other controls which can be set from the computer: many interfaces don't.
Have you set it as the input and output device
in Skype? - this is independant of whatever you have set in the Sound pane.
Ah so skype is independent and i dont have to go to the audio of my mac and put proplantronics as my default input and output? Well i actually hav done that already or rather skype has done that automatically but everytime i make a skype test it will just hang or crash.
Just to check: Skype preferences>Sound and set it there? I assume that if you set the internal mic and speakers it works OK?
Try this: open the QuickTime X player. From the File menu choose 'New Audio recording'. Use the down-arrow on the right to select the plantronics mic as the source and make a recording - does this work?
i tried the quicktime x player solution. i tried to make a new audio recording but when i put the proplantronics as the input mic i get an(OSStatus error -536870186.)
i will always get the spinning orb whether its skype or quicktime x player and then either it will crash or just this error.
This is really frustrating. I went to apple center and they told me that my bluetooth might need an upgrade but i'm running the latest software upgrade in my macbook pro.
OK, so we've ruled out a specific problem with Skype. The nest next step would probably be to approach Plantronics and see whether they can offer advice.
I have the same problem. I can use the Plantronics Voyager Pro headset with my iphone without any problems. But with my Macbook I can only pair it. But there is no sound.
