Cannot turn off "Background Items Added" Notifications

Running Ventura 13.2 and I've been getting "Background Items Added" notifications daily, multiple times. The notification directs me to the Login Items Settings. Even if I switch the app "off" from being able to start upon login I still get these notifications.

This only started happening in Ventura.

Anyone else getting these annoying notifications.

P.S.- why has uninstalling apps gotten harder. I've instilled some of these apps (e.g. Citrix) and still get these notifications and the options are still in my settings!

Help!

Here are the locations to check:

  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Paste this: /Library/LaunchAgents
  • Remove any suspect items. I have no files in my folder.

  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Paste this: /System/Library/LaunchAgents
  • There are a lot of files in here and some are required. Be careful on what you delete. Look for files with the same name as your Notification and another clue is the date of the file. Most will be the same date, any dates after has possibly been added after your OS install. Feel free to ask before deleting to make sure.

  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Paste this: /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
  • Same warning as before. There are a lot of files in here and some are required. Be careful on what you delete. Look for files with the same name as your Notification and another clue is the date of the file. Most will be the same date, any dates after has possibly been added after your OS install. Feel free to ask before deleting to make sure.

  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Paste this: /System/Library/StartupItems
  • Remove any suspect items. I have no files in my folder.

  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Paste this: /Library/Application Support
  • These files won't automatically launch on startup, but may contain files that are used to recreate itself. Look for names associated with the Notifications. Here is a list of what I have in this folder, yours won't match exactly.

Also remove those files in the Login Items section at  > System Settings > General > Login Items.Hopefully for the last time. I have nothing in the Login section and only Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and OSMessageTracer allowed to run in the background.

How are you uninstalling these apps. If you just deleting the apps themselves you've not getting all of the supporting files for the app.

Try using the free AppCleaner

WARNING: If you use AppCleaner on an app that you have other apps from the same developer, like Adobe, you must be extremely careful checking all checkboxes and deleting.  Some for those files may support other apps from the same developer and deleting them can mess them up.  Adobe apps is a primary example. I know from experience.  For singular apps from a developer it's safe.

For example deleting the 3rd party browser Firefox this is what would get deleted:

Yup, same here…even after macOS Ventura update 13.2.1. Are your Notifications to current apps or just previously deleted apps?

Mine are for currently used apps and no action seems to have an impact. As apps are still used, have not deleted anything in LaunchAgents or LaunchDaemons folders.

Arrgghh!! These daily, repeated notifications are a major PITA!
