Global shortcut that works even if I'm not focused on the window of the application the shortcut is assigned to
Here is what I need.
I use VLC to listen to lectures, from which I make notes. I rewind a lot, using a regular VLC shortcut which is a left arrow on my keyboard.
This backs up the video/audio about 5-10 seconds. BUT in order for it to work I have to focused on the VLC window. I have to click on the VLC window before it can work. Pausing and playing is easy, because I can use my apple keyboard that has multimedia keys, but rewinding doesn't exist. Double left arrow on the keyboard changes my audio to a previous one, not rewind this 5-10 seconds.
When I make notes, I keep my hands on the keyboard. In order to rewind I have to move my hand to the mouse, click VLC window, click left arrow on the keyboard and then click again to go back to Pages which I use to make notes. It sounds like it's not a big deal, but when you have hours and hours of material, and I keep rewinding hundreds of times per 1,5h lecture it becomes super daunting and slows down my process.
Is there a way to assign a global shortcut to either a multimedia key on the keyboard that affects VLC without me having to click on it every time? Or assign it to any other shortcut, as long as I can rewind using ONLY keyboard.
I tried using Stream Deck as well but in order to assign a shortcut to StreamDeck, first I need to have it created in MacOS, and SD doesn't have a VLC plugin that could do that for me unfortunately.
