I'm using Apple TV plus from the Chrome browser on my PC so I may cast to a Chromecast. The picture for Ted Lasso episodes displays sideways and distorted, both within the browser and the picture cast to the TV. It's only for this one Apple TV show. Every other show I've tried displays correctly. Very odd, because last week this show played just fine.
Has anyone else encountered this? Do you have a fix?

Yes, I see the lagging also, so I set the hardware acceleration setting back on.
I did a search of chromium.org issues and found issue 1415122
It seems the distorted video problem is not limited to Apple TV Plus. A suggested fix was to start Chrome with the --disable-direct-composition-video-overlays option. That fix seems to work. Didn't check for the lagging problem.
Based on the discussion on chromium.org, it appears a fix may be ready soon.

I was able to fix the problem by turning off the "Use hardware acceleration when available" setting in Chrome.

There haven’t been reported causes for that. Try a cold restart of the computer. If the issue persists after that, then contact Apple Support, so they can look into this.
I found a workaround that is working perfectly for me on win11 with chrome browser. I was having the distorted diagonal screen with green line on numerous episodes. It was driving me crazy!
I went to chrome://flags and changed 3 settings: Changed all from Default to Enabled as you can see in the image below. Good luck!
I had the same issue, but not with Ted Lasso, mine was Dear Edward. With both Edge AND Chrome browsers.
I have tried your solution and it does work for the distortion, however, it seems to be really lagging now.
