My iphone 12 mini keeps crashing during backup and IOS 16.3.1 update. What do I do?

It is only a little over 1 year old, battery age dropped to 85% and yesterday out of nowhere, it started to crash down and restart itself back. I tried to use itunes for backup and software update but it keeps crashing during the process and does not allow itunes to complete. Where I Iive it is very expensive to take iphones to service, cannot afford that now. I need my phone to work, what are my options other than returning to factory settings and losing my data? Thanks.


Additional info

It is fully charged

It has at least 18 GB empty space

No background app refresh (other than few apps)or apps running

iPhone 12 mini
