How to stream from my MacBook Pro 16"(2019) to my stereo HomePod (1st) in dolby atmos?

I can't find the way to stream from my MacBook Pro 16"(2019) to my stereo HomePod (1st) in dolby atmos. I do can from the iPhone but no from the mac. However if I choose internal speakers it plays in dolby atmos.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.2

Hi there fangilella,

The Apple Support article you found your way to the communities from, About Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos in Apple Music - Apple Support, provides a list of devices you can stream music in Dolby Atmos to from the Mac. This list does not include the HomePod, as you can view below:

Supported songs automatically play in Dolby Atmos when you're listening with:

• AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, AirPods (3rd generation), or Beats Fit Pro with Spatial Audio turned on
• AirPods (1st or 2nd generation)
• BeatsX, Beats Solo3 Wireless, Beats Studio3, Powerbeats3 Wireless, Beats Flex, Powerbeats Pro,
Beats Solo Pro, or Beats Studio Buds
• The built-in speakers on a MacBook Pro (2018 model or later), MacBook Air (2018 model or later), or
iMac (2021 model)

You should be able to listen to music in Dolby Atmos on your HomePod if you do so from an iPhone or iPad, so long as the option is enabled for the HomePod in the Home app:

Turn Dolby Atmos on or off

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Home app.
2. Tap the Home button Home button.
3. Tap Home Settings.
4. Under People, tap your name.
5. Tap Apple Music.
6. Turn Dolby Atmos on or off.

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

Have a wonderful day.
