How can I get Find My to update a location? My son is at school with his phone. When my husband opens his Find My app, it shows the correct location. But when I open my Find My app, it says his phone was at home 10 hours ago, and will not update.

My son is at school. On my husbands phone, his location is accurate. However, on my phone, it shows his location as being at home 10 hours ago and will not update. I’ve turned my phone off and on, but it didn’t help. How can I get the Find My app to update his correctly? It looks like it tries to refresh, but it just keeps showing the wrong location.

Hello agree001,

If the location still won't show or update, you can have that person try stopping the location sharing and then adding you back to it.

Stop sharing with one person
1. Open the Find My app and select the People tab.
2. Choose the person that you want to stop sharing your location with.
3. Scroll down and select Stop Sharing My Location.

Find people and share your location with Find My

If their location still doesn't share with you but works for everyone else, you'll want to contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support

Cheers!

Hi agree001,

If we understand your post correctly, you're seeing different Find My locations for the same iPhone from two different iOS devices. Is that right?

To double-check a few things that could be helpful, on his iPhone, tap Settings > [name] > Find My and make sure that he has "This Device" listed under the Share My Location section.

Also, make sure all devices are running the same iOS version. The latest is iOS 16.3.1. If you need to update, be sure to back up first: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let us know if that helps. Have a good one.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, his device is listed to share location and we are all running the most updated iOS. It was working on my husbands phone, but not mine. Since I posted this question, it has been working fine - until today. I just tried to look up his location and it hasn’t updated since 4:35 am (it is currently 5:06 pm). It tells me his phone was at home at 4:35 am. However, he left for school at 7:40 am and has been gone all day - and his location won’t update for me. It’s extremely frustrating!! Please fix this, Apple!
