When I try to record a selected portion of my screen (shift apple 5) the computer gets stuck on it. I hit escape and nothing happens. There is no way to access the screen record panel and I need to restart my computer in order get out of it.
I have two different MacBook Pros and this happens on both of them. Please advise.

to stop a recording in process, you can simply press the "stop" button that appears on your menubar whenever you start a recording.
and the other option you have is to press "shift-command-5" again and then press the stop button on the recording controls bar.
