You can record sound (Voice Memo) in the Voice Memo app.

The sound you record will be in the app, and from there you can choose to move the sound files and just leave them there. You can also share the files from that app. If you have other Apple devices, for example an iPad, you can activate iCloud Synchronization, so you will be able to hear your Voice Memos on all devices.
