Existing watch won’t pair to new phone

My watch is unpaired from my old phone. On my new phone, I have selected “pair existing watch” and it says “connecting to your Apple Watch” for no longer than 15 seconds before it says it’s unable to connect. Already restarted all devices. What can I do?

Apple Watch SE, watchOS 8

Greetings smastro123,

If you have unpaired your Apple Watch from your old iPhone, then it erased your Apple Watch and your Apple Watch would need to be paired to your new iPhone using these steps - Set up your Apple Watch

When unpairing Apple Watch devices from an iPhone it makes a backup to your iPhone. As long as that backup existed on your old iPhone prior to transferring all your data to your new iPhone, you should be prompted to see if you want to restore your Apple Watch via the backup.

Here is a summary of the article, however each step is broken out with much more detail in the article.

  1. Turn on your Apple Watch and put it on
  2. Hold your Apple Watch close to your iPhone
  3. Hold your iPhone over the animation
  4. Set up as new or restore from a backup
  5. Sign in with your Apple ID
  6. Create a passcode
  7. Customize your settings
  8. Set up cellular and Apple Pay
  9. Keep your devices close as they sync

Thanks.
