i have an iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB running 16.3 and it’s storage is full. Despite me selecting “optimized storage,” my photos are still taking up 82.55GB. My iPad (not certain of the model and it’s not with me,) has the same “Optimized storage” setting selected and the photos are only taking up around 7 GB. What can I do to fix this? It’s been months and I’ve searched all over for answers but nothing is working. Thanks!

If your storage is full, the device likely cannot optimize storage; space is needed for all functions to work properly. Delete some content, restart the device, plug it in, and leave it
If it were me I’d back up the device, ensure iCloud is synced, and I’d completely factory reset it. Then I’d just restore it from the backup.
Thanks for taking the time to read & reply. As I’ve been struggling with this for a few month now, I’ve off-loaded apps on several occasions. So while I appreciate your thoughts, this hasn’t worked for me unfortunately.
