com.apple.imagecapture error 704 for HP scanjet 300

I have macbook pro 13 with m2. When i installed https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-scanjet-300-flatbed-scanner/5251703 and OS system find scanner but i have problem i can't scan any document. any times when i tried it i go message "com.apple.imagecapture error 704"


Please help me to resolve this problem. how i can resolve it?

The last operating system that was intended for that driver download was macOS Mojave and there would be no means for that driver to support this scanner on Ventura.


The paid VueScan Professional wants you to install the 32-bit drivers for OS X Snow Leopard as a condition of VueScan support for this scanner, and that requirement will not work on Ventura either. You have an ancient paperweight scanner that cannot be supported on Ventura and time for a replacement.


HP does provide a 64-bit Windows 10 (but not Windows 11) driver for this scanner if you also use Windows.

Apple has no control over HP's decision to end driver development five years ago for this old scanner. Apple provides HP the development tools (free of charge) every year, so if they were inclined, could support your scanner on Ventura. Vendors routinely drop driver support for old devices.


Apple provides its Image Capture application with the operating system and it may or may not work with third-party scanners unless that scanner requires Image Capture specific drivers. In the case of the ScanJet 300, those drivers are simply not made available by HP for Ventura.
