All Macs have the DVD Player app. Now it's hidden here:
There are several ways to access it:
1 - do a Spotlight search for "DVD Player" and click on it when it comes up.
2 - go to the folder containing it and make an alias of it and put the alias on the Desktop, Dock or int the Application folder.

I just added it because when I first set mine up, ALL of the settings were set to "Ask What to Do" and I needed to adjust them myself. but that was several macOSes ago. I guess things have changed.
No reason not to add it. I didn't mean to imply you shouldn't have. 😎
Well I'm glad that's sorted. lol
I actually plugged a SuperDrive into an iMac running Catalina. CD, DVD and Photos were all set to "Ignore". But I may have done that. I cant remember. I checked my g/f's iMac running High Sierra with a built-in drive. They were all set as you showed. 🙂
edit: well iTunes as opposed to Music.
The SuperDrive does not require additional software. It does have to be plugged directly into a port, not a dock/hub.

You left one out. It should automatically open when you insert a DVD. 😎
... if it's set up properly, yes.

That's the default. At least with my Macs.

and I didn't take it that way at all. :) I just wanted to say that it must have changed in the mean time.
so, yeah. maybe Catalina was the deciding factor. that was the OS that I first started using the USB Superdrive. my previous iMac had the drive built-in.

Only if you have the System settings set to do that.

I thought Jeffrey and I covered that. I guess not. 😎
