Issue with hotspot

When I turn on my hotspot for my son to play Pokémon Go on my old iPhone, he always gets a “no internet connection” issue. It used to work in the past. I have reset network settings for both devices. I have tried all troubleshooting steps I can find online. It works when my wife enables her hotspot, and we have the same carrier as well. She has an iPhone 14 pro and I have the iPhone 14 pro max. My old device is an 11 Pro Max device. My wife’s signal somehow seems always stronger than mine. I can’t see how this would be a problem, but my old device is still under my iCloud account. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Did you even read my message? The hotspot is for my son to use my old iPhone. It used to work in the past. I have done all of the above except that we are not talking about providing a hotspot for a computer but for another iPhone. My data plan is unlimited, my wife and I are on the same plan and it works when she enables her hotspot. And as I said in my question, I already have reset network settings.

Use these steps first

Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS. On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.


If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi


The Hotspot is a carrier-specific feature. Contact your carrier, if it is not appearing on your device.


Also, check the following

  1. Network coverage and stability
  2. Data Balance
  3. On your windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled)
  4. Also, check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer.
