I tried to update my Iphone to 16.3.1 yesterday, and the phone froze during the update. The only thing on the screen is the small 'wheel'. I tried multiple times to restore the phone to factory settings and it freezes again each time. Any ideas?

Before any iOS / iPadOS update, please do the following
Go to Settings > General, and tap Profiles & Device Management. Tap the iOS Beta Software Profile. Tap Remove Profile, then restart your device --> How to uninstall iOS beta software - Apple Support
VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the update servers.
If you still can't install the latest version of iOS, try downloading the update again:
If you don’t see the update in the list of apps or if the issue happens again, you need to update your device with iTunes.
Try updating iOS after each step.
Volume Up-> Volume Down-> Power Button fix the problem. (with fast moves)
Press volume up button first then indicated volume down button and then press power off button until it’s off. Then restart again.
I found this helpful. I ended up having to rest my it and had to start from a backup but at least is boots now.

Happened to me too. You just have to wait it out and it will eventually boot into the apple logo screen with loading bar.
Hi did you ever fix this issue? My husbands brand new phone screen is not responding to any kind of touch anymore, and we have factory reset it and everything and it still is not working. I am pulling my hair out trying to find a fix. Just started doing it after the 16.3.1 update he did this morning now won't work at all, was fine before that.
Same problem with me. Since the 16.3.1 update I have been suffering from it. Phone freezes (can't do anything with it then) turns off and displays a loading round. Then the iPhone restarts after a while. I can sit on it for 5 minutes and then it happens again... Any tips?
ABOUT 16.3.1 😡😡😡 There is no any way! Cuz my phone frozen every 10 sec and restarting, restarting and i try to update from MacBook iTunes than they erase all data!!!! I didnt touch any erase or delete button! I lost my all best memories … Thank u Apple! U F*** my life in 10 sec!
I see several people have the same issue I am having: after installing 16.3.1, my iPhone freezes and then it restarts, continuously. It's impossible to use it. Apple support said sw was installed correctly, but something else got broken. It can be fixed by paying for assistance. Tbh I don't think it's fair, my almost 2-years old iPhone worked perfectly before the update. And I see other users are affected too, so Apple should provide a solution for it.
After this update my screen goes black and doesn’t shut off even if I press the off button. It happens with any calls. If I have a call waiting I can’t answer it. It ignores one and then black screen. Eventually it goes to screen but this is so constant. How can I fix this.
