Finally found the solution. I needed to enter the Printer IP into a browser and an operating checklist appears. One of the listed item was an on/ switch for Airprint. The software update apparently turned it off; I turned it on and it immediately printed from both iPhones and iPads.

My first suggestion is to restart the iPad a second time. That may let it see the printer.
I just tested my iPad 5 running 16.3.1 to our two networked printers and it had not issues. However, as I'd not printed since the update, the "Printer" box in the print dialog was empty and I had to reselect one.
Bruce,
I was having problems printing from my iPad to an Epson WF-3520. What seemed to fix it - I noticed that IOS 16.3.1 **changed the name of my iPad**. Why?!?! I changed it back, reset network settings and restarted.
Now everything is working fine.
Good luck
Since a couple of days ago when this happened, I've reset iPads and iPhones three times, reset the router twice, reloaded the wifi on the printer, and checked all kinds of settings and nothing works. My windows computer wifi connection is working fine. Also, sometimes the printer box is blank, and I look for printers, and it finds none. But sometimes the printer is showing in the box, but it won't print - really weird. I've been using Epson ET-3760 with four IOS devices and they worked great, until the update the other day.
Bruce I’m having problems from my iPad - but not from my iPhone. Both are running 16.3.1.
My iPad is a 6th generation- it prints but very slowly. A single sheet of music prints in 15 seconds from my iPhone - but 2 minutes from my iPad.
you can check the printer queue by double clicking the home button.
I’ve restarted the iPad and reset the network connections. My Google Home app says I have a great connection.
it’s pretty frustrating
It’s weird - my iPad (6th generation) prints but really slowly. Single sheet takes 2 minutes - from my iPhone about 15 seconds.
printing From Files or any app seems the same. I’ve reset the network settings and restarted several times. My Google Home app tells me I have a great connection.
I notice fine print seems blurry… maybe it’s a resolution thing.
Thank you for the update. Your information will help others
with the same problem.
