Transfer cancelled when trying to move data to new iPhone

I’m trying to transfer data from my old phone to new one, but it says data transfer cancelled. It’s asking me to reset the phone. Will I lose all all my content?

Thanks a lot.

I discovered the problem was caused because I had left the sim in my old phone instead of putting it into the new one. Once I had done this all was well.

Hi Lyynt1952,

We'd like to share some information on transferring data from a previous device. Looking over Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support, if this is the guidance you were following and had an issue with it cancelling, yes a reset is an erase. You can then resume with a new transfer following the steps in the article we shared.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Another 'iPhone-to-iPhone Transfer' process, uses Optical screen-to-screen

direct view, to engage this transfer. And when that gets messed up (mine is)

be glad to have it Automatically cancel. ~ Instead of a duplication of all data..

Mine inexplicably has glitched, & doubled ALL iPhone data on my original SE;

while the iPhone8 was re-named the same, as original SE! (with 2.) ~ That,

has doubled the Data in iCloud. And changing the newer model's name, nor

erasing iPhone8, Didn't help; and the Backups seem to be equally Doubled..

Cloud use was only 2.5GB in SE, & became 4.9GB in Both; says Low storage.

I've tried to isolate as previous iOS allowed, but that won't work; iCloud also

now affects storage in Macs. I have erased them, yet the defect returns.

The shared content is a glitch. Nothing new was added; looked into login

iCloud, saw much the same; and I can't afford to buy more iCloud+.

Never had this issue prior; the newer iPhone runs iOS 16.3.1, some party

gremlins were added into the mix; & never seen the likes of this before!

Situation is untenable, iPhone8 isn't being used; iPhone SE is off Cloud.
