Photo workflow

The procedures involved in transferring photo files from iPhone 13 iOS 16.1.2 to Mac Monterey Finder/Pictures/folder so as to open them with Adobe Photoshop CC-2023 for editing seems much more clumsy and cumbersome than it should be.

I'd appreciate advice from anyone if there is a streamlined workflow to Preview a photo directly from iPhone before all the Image Capture clicking and routing through my file structure just to know if it's a keeper or not.

It is so much smoother and faster from an SD card that I only use my iPhone when I quickly need a close-up, but I'd like to take advantage of the phone's image quality if the workflow was efficient.
