Hello Betsy Beginner,

We have some steps we believe will help. Check out the section labeled "Move your email messages to a mailbox" from this page: Use mailboxes to organize email on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

Move your email messages to a mailbox
1. Go to your Inbox in Mail.
2. Tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
3. Select the email messages, then tap Move.
4. Choose a mailbox to move the email messages to.

Or, you may also want to look over the information on this page as well, as it offers more information on how to delete emails on your iPad: Delete emails on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Specifically review this information from that page:

Set Trash or Archive as your default option
Depending on the type of email account you have, you might see Archive instead of Trash when you try to delete emails. You can edit where your deleted messages go in your Mail settings:

1. In the Settings app, tap Mail.
2. Tap Accounts.
3. Tap your account.
4. Tap your account once more.
5. Tap Advanced.
6. Select Deleted Mailbox or Archive Mailbox to send discarded messages there.

We hope this information helps you out.

Kind regards!
