iPhone will not connect to 2.4 mghz wifi

I am attempting to setup a security camera which requires I pair it to the network using my cellphone. It also requires I pair it using 2.4 mghz wifi. The 2.4 mghz wifi is visible as a network. When I attempt to sign on to that network, the message on my phone is “no internet connection”. I have told it to forget my regular network and tried again with the same results. Is there an issue with my iPhone unable to drop down to the 2.4 mghz and requires the 5 mghz to work with the internet?
