Switch Control Invalid Configuration Message

Whenever I turn on my phone, it says "Switch Control Invalid Configuration, Triple-click the side button to stop Switch Control" at the top, I tried Triple-click the side button, but it states that you are sure to turn on switch control, can someone find a solution to get rid of the message?

Hello idontreallyknow342,

It sounds like you may have an accessibility shortcut enabled on your iPhone. For help with checking the current settings of this feature, use the steps below found in the article here: About the Accessibility Shortcut for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

"Use the side or top button

If your device doesn't have a Home button, it has either a side or top button.

  • To set up Accessibility Shortcut: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut, then select the features that you use the most.
  • To use Accessibility Shortcut: Triple-click the side or top button.
  • To slow down the double-click or triple-click speed for the side or top button: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Side [or Top] Button, then change the setting."

If you have a protective case on your iPhone that may cover or involuntarily enable this feature, test with the cover temporarily removed. You can also find helpful information here: Use accessibility shortcuts on iPhone

With Switch Control check your settings with these steps to see if a third-party Bluetooth device or gesture is enabling the feature: Use Switch Control to navigate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers.

For anyone trying to figure out how to get rid of the banner, make sure you have a switch assigned to ‘select item’ in my case Triple Tap, which I just make sure to avoid by using two fingers / alternating tap locations

My setup:

Full screen Switch Tap: my gesture

Full screen Switch Long Press: Exit Recipe (without this it seems impossible to exit queued actions even on the lock screen)

Triple Tap: Select Item (I just tap in different places / two fingers to avoid this)

To queue a bunch of gestures just tap a bunch in different places. To exit the recipe, long press the screen. To stop switch control, triple click the lock button then lock the screen.

Hope this helps someone else with Poke Genie scanning in Pokemon Go!

Hey @neaumusic! Thanks for posting this! I just learned to set up switch control a few days ago for Pokemon go :P

BUT for the life of me, I don’t know why mine always says “Invalid Configuration”, plus if I tapped too many times, I can never make it stop! LOL

So I tried to follow yours. But I can’t figure out how you did your set up.

I am guessing you did these three Setups?

  • Full Screen Tap is: Switch #1: Switch Control ->Screen -> Full Screen -> Tap
  • Triple Tap + Select Item is: Switch #2: Switch Control->Switches->Back Tap->Triple Tap->Select Item
  • Then I enabled Long Press under Switch Control, but can’t find “Exit Recipe” anywhere for my life!

I appreciate any help/screen shot you can provide! 😊

I set Long Tap to Exit Recipe, but holding my finger on the screen for more than a second does not exit the recipe. It continues until all of the recipes are done. If I tap 5 times, it does the recipe 5 times, and will not exit before that, even if I long press before that. Also, I can’t find “triple tap” anywhere to assign it to something.
