No SMS after Airplane Mode

I always sleep with my phone on airplane mode. I have an iPhone 12 mini (if that’s what the small one is called). Anyway, when I take my phone out of airplane mode in the morning, I won’t get any SMS messages that people sent from androids while it was on airplane. I used to get a pile of messages that would come through, and now I don’t. I’m on a group text with android users, and while I was asleep, someone sent a message, and while I don’t see the message, another person on the thread gave it a thumbs up this morning once my phone was out of airplane mode, so in android land since it doesn’t do reactions on the text, it says, “Jen liked the message ‘blablabla.’” So I can see the content of the message that way, but no clue which person sent it, because the original didn’t come through. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

SMS messages are a carrier function. So, I'd start by contacting them.

Meanwhile, I would not put the phone in Airplane mode. There's no particular benefit to that. You can use Focus to silence some or all notifications or you can use the mute switch (just above the volume buttons) to silence all notifications. Best practice is also to put the phone on charge every night.
