System Settings toggle switches and sliders are invisible
MacBook Pro, 13-inch, M1, 2020, running Ventura 13.2.1
I experimented with the “System Settings>Accessibility>Display>Display contrast” slider in order to read some low contrast text. I slid the slider about halfway and successfully read the text. I noticed that my background photo now looked terrible. When I tried to set the “Display contrast” back to normal, I discovered that the slider and other toggle switches for Accessibility>Display had become invisible. I could not find the slider to set it back to Normal.
How I fixed it:
By moving the cursor around where I thought the toggle switch should be, after a few tries, I was able to turn on the “Increase contrast” toggle. This made the “Display contrast” slider visible. I was then able to set the slider back to Normal and then turn off the “Increase contrast” toggle again. There is probably a keystroke shortcut that would have worked better, but I haven’t tried to look it up.
Making the display controls invisible while trying to make text easier to read is a very bad feature, especially for a user with impaired vision. Apple, please change the way you display “System setting” controls in you user interface to prevent users from inadvertently making those controls invisible.
