Can't enable "share your location with" with a new invited and connected adult family member.

I want to share my iPhone 12 mini's iOS v16.3.1's location with an Apple ID account (family adult member) that has no Apple devices and only be able to view it in http://icloud.com. However, it doesn't show my iPhone device to show its location to this invited and connected user. I noticed my iPhone's family settings show its location sharinhg as "Not sharing with you. You can't see <deleted name>'s location. You'll be able to see a list of their devices but not their locations in Find My." Obviously, this invited and connected family member doesn't have any Apple hardwares, but I want that person to be able to see mine via http://icloud.com.

What's wrong? Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Hi antdude,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to use Find My to share your location with someone in your Family Sharing group who doesn't possess a device they can use with Find My.

In order for you to share your location with your family, they must also have a device signed in with their Apple ID, location services enabled and Find My enabled. You can learn more about how to share your location with your family here: Share your location with your family - Apple Support

"Choose which device to share your location from

You can share your location from a different device. For example, if you share your location from an iPad, you can share your location from an iPhone that you own instead.

  1. On the iPhone or iPad that you want to share your location from, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Find My.
  4. Tap Use this [device] as My Location."

Take care!

Darn. An Apple hardware device is required for others to see locations. I was hoping they can view with their own Apple ID account with iCloud.com web site. :(
