Catch playhead looping and playback distortion issues in Logic Pro X

Over the last several months, i have been getting playback distortions on my audio and midi tracks, especially when I loop a track, starts out ok, but degrades with increasing loops. I am using Logic 10.7.7, Mac os Monterey 12.6.3 running on a 2016 MacBook Pro. Regarding the audio distortion; At first i thought it might be my mixing board, Soundcraft 22mtk, causing the audio distortions, but to eliminate the board as the cause, I downloaded a trial copy of Ableton live 11, recorded the same track content, looped it, and routed it through the Soundcraft and found no audio distortion. Additionally, I have routed external music audio into the board (bypassing logic), and have no audio distortion. I have disabled plugins, and turned off automation but the distortion persists.

A second problem I'm having is that loops that I declared as 12 bars will frequently return to the beginning of the loop after only playing 2bars, or 4 bars, it varies.  Also, the catch playhead, on occasion, turns itself on, not in sync with the loop resets, I mentioned.

I am a long time Logic user, but these errors on these often used functions are definitely not supporting music creation. Any thoughts, given the symptoms, greatly appreciated. I value Logic but I value music creation more

Thanks for your insights.
