Looking for Correct Siri Command

Allow me to set the scene - I am in the kitchen in the middle of tossing a salad happily listening to podcasts with the AirPod Pros. The iPhone is back in the living room. Prior to this, I had set the timer for 20 minutes and the notification (probably not the right word) sound went off as the 20 minutes were up and I had my hands full of radicchio and romaine. Now I am quite pleased at the range of things that I can do with Siri and the AirPods Pro - pause / resume podcasts, control the volume, set an alarm or the timer but when the notification sound came on, for the life of me, I couldn't come up with a Siri instruction to turn the sound off. Any ideas on what verbal Siri command would be used in this case?

Hello ttibsen,

You should be able to ask Siri to turn off the timer with a phrase such as "Hey Siri, stop the timer."

If Siri isn't responding as expected to that type of phrase, let's use the steps below to make sure that your iPhone is all up to date:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If your iPhone is all up to date, let's restart: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support Updating and restarting can sometimes help address odd behaviors.

Should that still persist, are you experiencing difficulties with any other types of Siri requests?

Greetings chuckbl - I guess that the successful outcome in a case like mine, depends on using the correct phrase for Siri. I had tried all sorts of words and grouping of words but none of them worked. But guess what? "Hey Siri, stop the timer" is just what the doctor ordered. It worked perfectly to stop the alarm on the timer! And in answer to your last question - no, all other Siri commands work nicely. So thanks for imparting the correct phrase for this particular problem.
