How to set charging level lower than 100% ?

I heard that it's bad to keep the battery charged at 100%. There is software like bclm or BattaryStatusShow that sets the charging limit. Is it possible to set a charge limit using native apple settings? (there is an option in the settings: "battery charge up to 80%", but it does not work - charging is always at 100%)

You heard wrong. There’s no end of disinformation about batteries and how they should be maintained, charged, etc. Current versions of macOS, iOS, and iPadOS are fully optimized to preserve and maintain batteries in the best way possible. The best recommendation anyone can make to you is let things alone and let Apple’s software do its thing with your battery. Please don’t even think of using some third party hack to mess with the charging system.
