Time Machine

Despite having checked in the preferences, Time Machine does not show on my dock. And when I locate it through the applications folder, I can't find anything that allows me to "back up now". It allows me to choose frequency, but if I select "manual" I then get no options to do anything - where am I going wrong? Ventura 13:2:1.
