menu bar

How can I keep the menu bar visibile on full screen? I recently installed Big Sur. I have disabled "automatically hide and show the dock" but it still disappears. I want the ability to see the time and date without having to use my mouse.

You do not.

But what you can do, is almost full screen.

Hold the Option key, and click on the Green stop light button in the upper left corner of the window. This will expand the window to fill up the available space, EXCEPT for the menu bar and the Dock.

And you can "Hide" the Dock, so you get that space as well.

It would appear you quit Safari with the window in Full Screen mode. Before quiting Safari use Command-F or Safari -> View (menu) -> Exit Full Screen. That way, when you open Safari, it will NOT open in Full Screen mode.

I did some experiments with Safari

Hovering my cursor over the green traffic light button

Press the Fill Screen icon

When you are finished, you can hover over the Green Traffic light button again, and this time

Select Revert to Original Dimenisons back arrow.

I have tried that but still no menu bar. When I open safari the menu bar is hidden and remains so after trying your suggestion. I have also tried going to system preferences to dock&menu and making sure that “automatically hide and show the menu bar” is disabled but still it remains hidden until I move my mouse to display it.

It is exasperating. Thanks for your effort to solve the problem. Maybe I will just have to live with it!
