TextEdit document stutters when scrolling sometimes

A few minutes ago a TextEdit document, all of 41 kb, stuttered when scrolling, pretty much wouldn't scroll... Minutes later it is fine. Why? I only have Firefox, Mail, Preview and QT Player open right now. 1 browser window. Nothing in Preview or QT Player. Mail is minimized in the dock.

CPU use never gets high. Is 1 to 5% most of the time. (I didn't check memory pressure with Activity Monitor but it has never been high. Always is green and is now.)

I am now on Ventura 13.2.1 but this has happened off and on since I bought my M2 with 13.1. It only has 8 gb of memory, 500gb hd, 117 gb free.

Thanks for any help.
