FaceTime quality

Hi, I recently bought my first iPhone ever(14 Pro) and I’m really happy with it. However, I wanted to test FaceTime and sent a link to my brother(he’s Android). The video quality is terrible, not even 720p. My WiFi speed is ~430Mbps, his WiFi speed is ~280Mbps, is that normal? In what conditions can I reach 1080P quality video call? I even tested through 5G,but it’s limited to 100Mbps anyways. I know that streaming requires high speeds, that’s why video calls are bad on Messenger aswell, but isn’t 400+Mbps fast enough?

Hey nikifor273,

Based on what you mentioned, it does sound like the internet connections should be robust enough to have a clear FaceTime call. Have you tested this with any other users, and if so, were they also using the FaceTime link or was it a direct FaceTime call? If you haven't had a chance to test this with anyone else, that would be a great step to take, as it helps to isolate potential causes.

The "Use a fast connection to avoid sound quality issues with FaceTime" section of If you can't make or receive a FaceTime call on your iPhone or iPad goes into that in a little more detail, and the rest of that page also has additional steps that could potentially assist. If all calls, including direct FaceTime calls are having this issue, it might be best to Contact Apple Support directly for more assistance.

Take care.
