Office 2019/ Microsoft 365 build 16.29.1

I installed Office 2019/ Microsoft 365 build 16.29.1 on my 2015 MacBook Pro after upgrading from OS 10.12.5 Sierra to OS 10.13.6 High Sierra, but now when I try to open Word, it won't allow me to sign in or activate a new account. I get the spinning wheel that never stops. *Before installing the 2019 version of Office, I did uninstall my previous version of Office 2008. How can I get the newer version to work? Thank you. -DM

You can't. It's no longer possible to install any version of Office on High Sierra. Microsoft does not sell or make available a version that will run on it and the activation servers for versions that would have been shut down by Microsoft.

Thank you, Tim, for your reply. I had found some info on an Apple Community discussion thread that said this was possible, and it had given the link and instructions on how to accomplish it. The newer version installed easily, but at the activation point, it stalled. The 2008 version of Office that I was previously using was actually working, but I kept getting messages that it wasn't optimized for my OS 10.13.6 High Sierra, and that's why I decided to try to upgrade the Microsoft Office app. Unfortunately, I was instructed to uninstall the 2008 version in order to get the 2019 version to work properly, so now I have nothing to work with. -DM

The activation servers were shut down by Microsoft.

You're going to have to find an alternative office product that will run on High Sierra (developers are rapidly dropping support for it) or upgrade macOS to something that's currently supported.

A 2015 MBP should is compatible with macOS 12 (Monterey). The current version of office will run on Monterey.

Thanks once again, Tim.

Actually, my recent goal was only to upgrade my MBP from OS 10.12.5 Sierra to the newest OS version that the processors would allow, and when I researched it with Apple Support, I was told that OS 10.13.6 High Sierra was the highest OS upgrade that my laptop processors would be able to run. I was just trying to get a little more mileage out of it before inevitably having to purchase another new Mac. The High Sierra upgrade was free, and with the exception of Word, all of my other apps were either able to be upgraded or still function with the newer OS. That's when I went on the search for a solution to the Word dilemma and found one within the Apple Community. Thank you for your wisdom and kind advice. I will try to use Apple's Pages app for now because my Word docs do open in it, and eventually I will purchase a new Mac of some sort. -DM

Maybe a Reinstall would fix this?

So, contact Microsoft. They are the developers of the software.
