I have a 2014 MacBook Pro and just recently got a new 2021 MacBook m1 pro and I moved everything from my old MacBook over to this one and now its thinking I'm the old MacBook and my home on new is the same on my old Mac which is not right. help?

I just got a little while back a new 2021 MacBook Pro m1 and when it came in I moved everything from my old 2014 macbook pro over to it.

Now it's using my Home folder from my old MacBook which had Big Sur on it and this one came with Monterey. Anyway its not been right since.

I have Superior Drummer on my New MacBook and its a big file especially for someone who has the worst internet there is. It takes literally weeks to get the whole Superior Drummer software on my Mac. So I don't want to lose it if possible. That's why I haven't just wipe disk and reinstall clean. What can I do? Thanks in Advance!

MacOS is inherently a multiple-User system. If you choose to create only one user, it operates exactly the same way.

If you migrate at first run, your folder-names and everything can remain intact and 'just as you left them'.

For any other Migration, a new User-id will be created, and there may be some ambiguity about which one should have been used for what.

This is NOT an error, this is the way it was designed.

You need to decide which of the two User-id's you want to use, or create another one that has the best of all. DO NOT re-name any userid. if you want a different one, create a new one, and copy your files over. if you can go for a week without looking in the old userid, it might be OK to delete it and its files.

okay, I did do that and made my other user the administrator too. So now its all on both users and its using a lot storage now. But I'm afraid to delete the old user administrator not sure what that would do. Ive tried to backup everything since I've done all this and time machine won't do it because its saying its because its nearly full but Ive still got 1.28 tb on my external drive for back-up, so I don't know why its saying that. I feel like I've probable made more of a mess.
