Message tone not working on locked screen

Why is my text tone not working when my phone is locked on iOS 16? It will work when it isn’t locked. When it’s locked, my Apple Watch will vibrate, but I don’t receive a sound on my phone.

message notifications are on

there is a text tone assigned

do not disturb is disabled

silence is off

I have missed countless texts from family, friends, and work as I no longer get any audio notification that a text has arrived. I literally have to pic up my phone every 5 minutes and see if I have any messages on my Lock Screen. My Apple Watch Nike SE running os 9.4 is no help either. I do not have "Do not Disturb" on. Text alert doesn’t sound when screen is dark On my iPhone 8 running iOS 16.1.1, the text tone alert doesn’t sound when I receive a text while the screen is dark. It does sound when the phone is unlocked. My Apple Watch vibrates even when the phone does not sound the alert. Mute is off. Notifications for Messages is checked for Badges, Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Persistent Banners. Focus Do Not Disturb is not active. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Phone doesn’t vibrate when locked iPhone 13 Pro Max. Phone does not vibrate for text notifications when locked, but my Apple Watch does. when phone is unlocked, phone vibrates for text message notification but watch doesn’t. I want my phone to vibrate for text notifications, as it is stronger and I often don’t feel the watch vibrate.

Have you enabled Scheduled Summary?

Settings > Notifications > [Select the App that you are having trouble receiving immediate notifications]

See the pic below for a few examples. Please select immediate delivery.

Scheduled summary is “off” for all notifications as I don’t need the feature. That is not the issue.
