I’m 15 and can’t add my debit card to my Apple ID

I’m over the age allowed to have my own Apple Account and I have my own bank account and Debit Card. How can my Mom remove her credit card from my account whilst keeping some features of family sharing (such as shared apps/ photos and location services)? I want to pay for my own apps without paying her.

Ps: Re: "How can my Mom remove her credit card from my account whilst keeping some features of family sharing ?"

Seems you Mom as the Family Sharing organiser will need to turn off "Purchase sharing"

Family Sharing Article: How to share purchases with your family - Apple Support

Scrolling down, says:

"Which payment method is charged for purchases that family members make?"

"When Purchase Sharing is turned on, everyone's purchases bill to the family organizer's payment method. If there's an issue with the payment method, the family organizer can update their payment method or add a new one."

"If you're the family organizer and you don't want to share a payment method with your family, turn off purchase sharing. When purchase sharing is turned off, you can continue to share subscriptions like Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. When Purchase Sharing is turned off, everyone must use their own payment method."

Hope this helps :-)

Hi AJ512,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Re: can’t add my debit card to my Apple ID

Wondering which device you are using (iPad, iPhone, Mac etc)

and

whether the birthdate listed in your own Apple ID reflects your correct age.

and

what happens when you try to add your debit card (error message ?)

You could try restarting your device, to clear the way:

Eg: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

or Restart your iPad - Apple Support

or Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

You may need to add your own card, before your Mom can remove hers.

(ie: Active subscriptions etc., require there is always one card listed).

How to check your card is one that Apple in your country can accept:

Payment methods that you can use with your Apple ID – Apple Support

How to: Add a payment method to your Apple ID - Apple Support

For your Mom to remove her card:

How to: Remove a payment method from your Apple ID - Apple Support

Please feel free to let us know if you still need help.

All the best :-)
