Synced calendars keep showing up on my iphone as duplicates/won't stay hidden

So, I have two gmail calendars that I synced/added to my Apple Calendar app on my iphone. My work gmail calendar and my personal gmail calendar. I added both. But the personal one shows up twice - both in the calendar edit screen under "gmail" and again under the section labeled daniel_____@gmail.com email address. They're the same calendar. I go to hide one of them, because otherwise events on my personal gmail calendar are showing up twice. That works. And then 5 minutes later or whatever that calendar (and associated events) get turned back on. I don't know why and I can't stop this from happening - it won't stay hidden. Help!!!

Hey theshenk,

We’d be happy to help out. Sounds like there might be a duplicate account involved here. Lets get that cleaned up.

To start, go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts. How many accounts are listed here? Do you notice that you have more than one personal Gmail account added? If so, delete the duplicate by tapping on it and selecting “Delete Account”.

Next, make sure that Calendars is only enabled for the accounts that you are creating calendar events for.

If you continue to have issues, are you only noticing this on your iPhone or are any other devices impacted?

We hope this helps out and look forward to hearing how things go.

Take care!

Hi theshenk,

To isolate which calendar may be responsible for the duplicate entries, open the Calendar app and tap on 'Calendars' at the bottom of the screen. Once you see all the calendars that are syncing with the Calendar app, remove the check mark from each one at a time to see which account is responsible for the duplicate entries. Once you've discovered which account has duplicates, you can check all your calendars in this area except for the ones that causes the duplicate events to reappear.

We hope that helps!

Hey - thanks for replying.

So....not sure about the duplicates - or maybe I just don't understand them. I'm not an idiot,

but don't understand the differences between these and which is duplicate. This is what I see:

So, for iCloud, I don't really even know what that is. I don't use a .me email address or anything.

I have an old yahoo address. That's in the list. The other two are the two other gmail accounts I have. One personal, and the other (just called Gmail) is my work email.

I think they're "shared" with one another in google calendar settings, so that when I'm logged into google calendar as my work login, I can still see my personal calendar and vice versa. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. They don't show up as duplicate entries when I'm on the google calendar website. (I don't use the calendar app on my mac laptop, just on my phone)

Thanks for the reply, if you look at my original post, I wrote:

so....I do uncheck one of them, and that works......

and then somehow 5 minutes later or an hour later or whatever, it magically checks itself back "on".

This has been going on for over two years.
