Validation code not send

I’m trying to setup my son & daughter’s new iPad separately, with a shared iCloud account. If I try installing an app on either iPad, it should send a text to my iPhone for validation, but I never receive any of the requests…. (The number it sends it to, is correct) I’ve setup 2 completely new Apple ID’s, so nothing installed yet, but this way, I’ll never be able to install anything. Please help.

PS: I have an iPhone XS for myself. Could that be the problem? It sometimes has trouble connecting to my iPad Pro and my AirPods

iPhone XS, iOS 16

Hi Tattoo_dad,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're not receiving verification codes, correct?

Are you referring to verification codes used to sign in with the Apple ID? If so, you will need two-factor authentication enabled for the Apple ID. You can also get a verification code directly from a trusted device as outlined here: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

If you're using Family Sharing and have Ask to Buy enabled but you're not seeing the requests for Ask to Buy, this article will guide you through the steps to help you locate the requests: If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support

Hi Tattoo_dad,

Let's isolate a bit more. Are you using Do not Disturb? You can check by following the steps below:

Use Do Not Disturb with Focus on your iPhone or iPad

1. Go to Settings > Focus.
2. Tap Do Not Disturb.
3. Under Turn on Automatically, set Do Not Disturb to turn on automatically at a certain time, location, or while using a certain app.

If not, we recommend that you reach out to Apple Support directly to take a further look. Please reach out here:

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Thanx for your reply. Yes, Ask to buy isn’t working… Unfortunately what you’re suggesting, doesn’t help. I checked and I’m using the correct Apple ID…. I’m starting to think it might be due to the age of my phone? Like I said; it also has trouble sending messages to my Apple Watch 7 and lately sometimes loses connection with my airPods. For the watch, I’ve had contact with Amac in Breda, but they say there’s nothing wrong. Could be a link to my problem with my son’s iPad, right?
