Quickbooks and Mac Mail - PDF not loading

This worked fine on my old Mac OS monterey with an older mac. Upgraded to Macbook pro 16 with Ventura, and emailing statements from Quickbooks sends draft emails in Mac Mail. I can see the PDF in the Viewer mode, but when I click the message to send it, the PDF disappears. I have to now cut and paste from the viewer window into the draft message.

Also, in the draft viewer window, it says "no recipient" even though there is a recipient in the "TO" field.

Hey there sunmoonlight,

If you share a PDF from another application using Mail, does the same thing occur? Test to verify as this can isolate the issue to QuickBooks or Mail. Here’s how:

  1. On your Mac, open the document.
  2. Choose File > Print.
  3. Click the down arrow of the PDF pop-up menu, then do one of the following:
  • Save the PDF to iCloud Drive: Choose Save to iCloud Drive.
  • Send the PDF via email: Choose Send in Mail, type an email address in the To field, enter a message if you want, then click Send.

You should also test this in a new user account as well to further isolate the cause. You can read how to do this here:

Take care.

Hello sunmoonlight,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to email statements from your accounting software on your Mac, as the PDF attachment doesn't work as expected. First, try running First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing.

Next, use safe mode to start up your Mac as it does the following things:

  • Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
  • Loads only required kernel extensions
  • Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
  • Disables user-installed fonts
  • Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Log in to your user account and test the issue while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again. This will help us narrow down this issue further.

Cheers!
